  My friend and I visit the stag frequently. They recognize us when we walk in and usually provide good service. This time when we went we waited 20 minutes for no one to take our order. Waitresses kept walking past us and looking at us. 3 other groups of people came in and were helped/served immediately. After waiting 20 minutes we decided to leave because they were too busy to serve us. I let the gentleman behind the bar know that we had waited so long without service and walked out. As we were walking out he yelled "Then don't come back!". The woman named Carol came running out saying she had just brought us our bread and salad, apologizing saying our waitress was in the back doing something else. We decided not to go back in because of the gentleman who yelled in front of the entire restaurant not to come back. They know us very well and for him to yell that at us is unacceptable.

  Recently stopped in (first time) for a few drinks, and was so pleasantly surprised! The decor and ambiance were incredible in this early vintage gem! Great dim lighting, tons of artwork and knick-knacks, friendly service, and a delicious smell from the food being grilled on charcoal in the dining room. Don’t miss this one of a kind place!

  The white stag has been open longer than my 60+ year old father has been alive, and he says it hasn’t changed a bit. Food is outstanding, some of the best on earth if ya ask me. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Dressings are world class and homemade. Order a steak and shrimp if you want a amazing night. Pork chops ain’t too bad either ;) (I’m a local that’s been going here sense I was born, trust me you won’t be disappointed)

  We dined at the White Stag Inn in Rhinelander, WI recently. We all had steaks, which were quite good. The wedge salad was 1/4 of a head of lettuce. The salad dressings were all home made. The service was outstanding. The portions were hearty and the baked potato came with a 1/3 of stick of butter on it! This is an old time supper club, with a great wood panel interior. They really didn't have any desserts, but we still enjoyed our meal.

  Fantastic old school Northwoods dining. Any one that is looking for more should look somewhere else.
